[1] For any project operating in a country under economic sanctions, the application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the organisers at the time of selection. Countries of particular interest for the organisers include (but are not limited to): Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Botswana, Burma, Cambodia, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Laos, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
[2] As per Blunomy’s travel policy, the on-field advisory support mission will only be carried out if the project takes place in an eligible country: these are countries that are categorised as “normal vigilance” or “enhanced vigilance” by the French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs. The country’s situation will be re-assessed during the selection process. The impossibility to carry out the on-field mission is likely to lead to non-selection as the positive impact of the organisers on the laureate would be diminished.

The strategic advisory mission’s aim is to position laureates on a path to profitability and growth. Blunomy will work with winning start-ups to identify issues that need to be addressed to grow their business. Blunomy will evaluate the grant amount after the on-field advisory support mission and wire it after completion of the mandate (Blunomy will split $250,000 between 5 to 7 grantees). The grant may exclusively be used for the purposes defined at the end of the strategic advisory mission and a monitoring plan will be agreed on with the grantees to ensure guidelines are followed. Blunomy’s support during the advisory mandate can include assessment of operational, sales and distribution, unit economics analysis, business model analysis, customer acquisition and retention, geographical expansion, among others.
[3] Up to $5,000 of the financial contribution will be used by successful applicants to subscribe to a product & public liability insurance which complies with the international standards, if none is in place. As per Blunomy’s pro-bono advisory policy, part of the grant will be used to cover Blunomy’s travel expenses, if these expenses are not directly paid by the laureate.
